Getting started

How to Play

Free · No download · Play from chat

Brawldex is a Pokémon battle game that runs inside a live stream. The battles play out on screen; you take part by typing in chat. There is nothing to install and nothing to buy — you can be in a fight within about ten seconds of finding the stream.

The idea

A battle you can walk into

Every few minutes a new battle starts. Up to twelve viewers can be in it, each controlling one Pokémon, and the fight resolves itself live on stream while chat watches. You do not steer your Pokémon move by move — you pick who you send in, and then you watch how it goes.

Everything you win is kept on this website. Your Pokémon, your trainer card, your rank and your brawl pass all live on your profile, and they carry over from stream to stream. The stream is where you play; brawldex.live is where your collection lives.

Chat commands

Three things you can type

These work in the stream chat, not on this site. That is the whole control scheme.

1
!join

Puts you in the next battle. Type it on its own and you will be seated as a guest with a random Pokémon — perfectly fine for a first go. If you already have a collection, type !join CODE using the code shown on one of your Pokémon, and that is the one that fights.

2
!pick NUMBER

Not in the fight? Call it instead. Before a battle starts you can predict which player wins, and a correct call pays out coins. It costs nothing to be wrong, so there is no reason not to guess.

3
!claim CODE

This is the important one. It ties the account you are chatting from to your profile on this site, so everything you win is saved instead of vanishing when the stream ends. Your code is on your profile page here. Do it once per platform and you are set.

Play as a guest as long as you like — but a guest's winnings are not saved. If you win something you care about, !claim it before you go.

Your first stream

Start to finish

  1. Find the stream on TikTok or Twitch while it is live.
  2. Type !join in chat. You are in the next battle with a random Pokémon.
  3. Watch it play out. Placing well earns coins; so does simply turning up daily.
  4. Open brawldex.live, sign in, and copy the claim code from your profile.
  5. Type !claim YOURCODE in chat. Everything is now yours to keep.

Progress

Coins, Pokémon and rank

Coins are earned, never bought

Coins come from playing: placing in a battle, claiming the daily, finishing quests and calling winners correctly with !pick. There is no way to purchase coins, and there is deliberately no way to gamble them.

Getting new Pokémon

Coins buy Poké Balls in the shop, and the shop always tells you exactly what you are getting before you spend — a known Pokémon at a fixed price. The one random drop is the free daily ball, which costs nothing at all.

The brawl pass

Season One runs a brawl pass with cosmetic rewards: trainer sprites, card skins, emblems and borders. It unlocks through supporting the stream, and it changes how your card looks rather than how hard you hit. Nothing in Brawldex lets you pay to win a fight.

Ranks

Wins move you up the leaderboard and upgrade the ball on your trainer card, which is the badge everyone can see. The Ranks tab shows where you stand this week.

Two platforms

One account, either chat

Brawldex streams to TikTok and Twitch, and both feed the same collection. Your profile holds a TikTok handle and a Twitch handle side by side, so you can play on TikTok tonight, watch on Twitch tomorrow, and it is one set of Pokémon, one brawl pass and one place on the leaderboard.

Run !claim once in each chat to link them both. Claiming on Twitch does not disturb your TikTok handle, or the other way round — they are separate fields on the same profile.

About

What this project is

Brawldex is an independent fan project, built and run by one person. The battles, the 3D arenas, the overlay you see on stream and this website are all custom-built; the Pokémon themselves belong to Nintendo, Creatures Inc. and GAME FREAK inc., and this site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any of them.

It is free to play and always will be. Supporting the stream unlocks cosmetics and helps keep the servers on — it never buys a better chance of winning.
